Nature's Gentleman

Denis Lenihan was one of nature’s gentlemen.  He was kind, extremely ethical, always considered others and had a wonderful sense of humour.  I first met Denis in 1968 when I joined the Department of Immigration in Canberra.  We lost touch for a number of years after I left Canberra but was pleasantly surprised to find in 1984 (when working for the Stewart Royal Commission) that Denis was to be the CEO of the newly established National Crime Authority and I would be his secretary.  The NCA had many challenges but Denis was its rock.  His door was always open and he had the respect of all.  For the last few years I have had the pleasure of visiting Denis and Bridget in London each year but sadly was not able to visit in 2020.  Denis will be greatly missed by SO many.
